Hi everyone, i’ve been trying out Bio Oil for a good few months now so it’s now time to share my thoughts on it and whether I think it’s worth the hype. Bio Oil is a specialist oil that is supposed to help the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. It has endless uses from using it in the bath to smoothing flyaway hairs!
I have all three of the main issues that this oil targets so I was really interested to see what effect it would have on my skin. I do actually have a few stretch marks on my hips just from growing up (they can also appear if you gain weight too). You don’t have to be pregnant to have stretch marks sadly! You basically massage the oil into the affected area and leave to soak in. They recommend you use it twice a day but I definitely don’t think that’s realistic for a lot of people; I use it once a day in the evening after a shower which works nicely for me.
The oil itself has a lovely light but distinctive fragrance and is also easily absorbed into the skin so you don’t have to wait around for ages either. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised and hydrated all day long which I really enjoy and when used underneath a typical body butter / moisturiser it really helps to prevent dry skin forming.
I also really think this is a lovely product for the face if you suffer from severe dehydrated skin or uneven skin tone. I have rosacea patches on my face which basically appear as red blotches; this definitely helps to calm it down especially in this cold weather!
Overall I do think this is a great product and I will definitely continue to use it to help my skin heal and improve over time. It’s especially perfect for winter when your face and body might need an extra boost of hydration.
Have you ever tried Bio Oil?

Did the oil help reduce the appearance of your stretch marks? I used it for awhile but ended up getting too lazy to use it every day lol.

Did it leave your face feeling oily? I’ve heard about people using it as i primer, but I am quite sceptical to this since I have combination to oily skin myself

No it’s extremely light feeling but I wouldn’t recommend it as a primer personally as I feel like it’s too slippery for that! x

I tried this a couple of years ago for my acne scars and good god it burned! Which is a shame so many people say good things about it.

Really!!? I’ve never heard anyone say that before, that’s crazy! Do you have sensitive skin? x

Not usually! At the time I was just coming off medication for my skin and it had left my skin really dry , so it was probably due to that

I used to use this for stretch marks but found after a while it stopped helping and I wasn’t really benefitting from using it anymore. Did you find this happened with you? (Maybe it’s just me!)

I definitely know what you mean- I think it’s also supposed to be slightly preventative in some cases to lessen the effects of any new marks you might get (If that makes sense!) x

Yeah I get what you mean, I think you’re probably right! It’s been years since I’ve used it though so I might have to give it another go! x
